食物場所嘅設計同建造，喺可行範圍內必須做到「唔准蟲入」同「唔准俾蟲匿藏」，FSANZ 3.2.3 逐字要求 premises 唔准 create spaces where pests can nest and multiply。實務上即係門底縫裝門刷或密封條、窗同通風口裝防蟲網（mesh screening）、管道穿牆嘅洞口密封、去水隔氣同隔油池要密蓋。Newcastle DCG 更明文：Holes and inaccessible spaces to be sealed，而且 No cavity construction is permitted——假天花同牆身空腔正正係蟲窩。滅蟲裝置唔可以放喺食物可能被污染嘅工作區附近，EHO 開業前 inspection 一定睇埋垃圾房同後勤區。
